QTPOC Open Space - Long Beach LGBTQ Center

For National Poetry Month we're excited to present:

In order to reach the sky,
one must be rooted to the earth first.
A poetry workshop with Jesse Marinero
"Brown Butch Queen" ft. Esperanza Cisneros

---------------------------
A safe(r) space for all Queer and Trans People of Color. Centering Queer and Trans Femmes of Color. The intention of this monthly group is to provide a space to build QTPOC community in Long Beach, by engaging in discussion and celebrating queer art and literature, having skill shares, offering healing & self-care practices, as well as other topics that specifically relate to our QTPOC experience and identity.

As a gentle reminder, this group is a safe space for queer and trans folks who self-identify as People of Color. We ask that white folks not attend in order to keep the space safe for those of us that do. If you are unsure whether or not you identify as a person of color, we ask that you search for resources online to help you with the exploration of that for yourself and respect the intention of the space we have created.

Facilitators: Alli Simon & Laura Luna P

We’re BACK for the Winter edition of our Clothing Swap!

Summer is over and winter is here! Last summer we had over 100 people show up to the swap!!!

Are there any gently used items in your closet that are no longer your style or that you’d like to get rid of to switch out for the season and to make room for some new goodies?

If so, we’d love to have them and YOU at the Winter Swap!

FREE EVENT
Swapping starts at 12:30pm

All left over clothing will be donated to a local women’s shelter

--

How this works:
You bring gently used items of clothing and accessories to swap and come ready to leave with some “new-to-you” goodies.

**Please ensure to launder any items you bring with you before the swap**

All clothing will be separated by sizes NOT gender. If you think something is cute, feel free to TRY IT! DOWN WITH GENDER BINARIES!

We had a pretty large selection of Plus Sized items last time and would love to see that again this go around ♥

Take what you love for yourself, leave behind what you don’t so someone else can LOVE IT!

There’s NO limit to what you can take. If you only brought 1 thing, and want to leave with 10, as long as you love those 10 items, that’s OK!

We want to make this space as body positive as possible! NO Negative Body Talk and NO Diet Talk! ALL BODIES ARE GOOD BODIES!!!

--

VOLUNTEERS VOLUNTEERS VOLUNTEERS – We NEED You!!! One of the lessons learned from last swap is that we needed MORE Volunteers due to the influx of so many amazing clothes. Can you donate 1.5 hours of your time or more during the swap to help sort clothes? Please email events@allisimon.com

We're excited to have Keisean Raines of So Hum Wellness Holistic Lifestyle Coaching leading us in a class to embrace our physical form through the mindful movements of yoga, followed by an intention setting for the coming year.
